Discord better known as Pisscord or Dicksword is the stillborn lovechild of Reddit and Skype, where the fetus is vacuumed out of the womb, sprawled into the center of a bloody pentagram and resurrected to become the next social media Antichrist. Thirteen-year-olds praise it for being easier to use than an IRC client, Furries use it because the majority of servers cater to their depreaved whims, and any gamer who just wants VOIP uses Mumble or Teamspeak. Due to Discord's apparent popularity, Discord is probably the fiftieth final nail in the coffin for IRC.

Don't do it
Before you begin using Discord, consider the following:
- Discord is a massive hugbox for kids, autists, furries, communists, nazis, and just every breed of sick fuck you can imagine being in-between them.
- Since the TOS forbids lulzy content such as gore, racism, sexism, or bullying, be prepared to deal with the nuisance of being b&.
- Since it is around for quite some time there are already raid and abuse prevention methods set up. While these are hardly difficult to get around enough abuse will make it so that your entire IP range is blacklisted and any account that logs in has to supply a phone number. Worse yet, the phone number will get blocked after enough usage, so raiding in a long-term sense is time consuming and annoying.
- If you just want to use it as a chat service consider the fact that it keylogs everything you say to prevent "abuse" and WILL punish you for what you do off-platform
- Discord will demand you give them a phone number and/or complete a Google ReCAPTCHA if you connect via Tor network or by a VPN
- By the rare chance that you don't care about privacy and don't have problems with the guidelines you're still using telemetry and electron bloatware that will take a substantial chunk of resources from your machine
- If you want to use discord because of the features it provides ask yourself this: how many of them am I meaningfully going to use? Even on big servers, the only features used besides text and voice channels are the media manipulation bots and autojannies - you can simply use another service's autojanny equivalent and an online gif making website instead.
Tl;dr: it runs slow and will persecute you unless you fit precisely into the ideology it demands. What do you get in return for using this shitty service instead of IRC or Mumble? Bots that can make gifs and colorful roles.

History
Initially designed as a group messaging program targeted for vidya, Discord has been in active development since Last Thursday, Discord was shat out for the public's resentment on May 13th, 2015, towards the end of GamerGate. Therefore Discord was naturally dominated by communities and individuals who actually just wanted to play vidya with each other. This period is notably dull because most of these folks were very "normal"; lulz of any kind were non-existent. They had no idea, however, that something awful was about to happen: Discord was destined to become into an out-of-control sanctuary for copious amounts of intolerable faggotry and USI, a fate that the platform was inescapably destined to meet from the get-go.
It wasn't until the 2016 election that Discord really took off. A large amount of /pol/acks, already being lifeless husks, migrated to create an arsenal of support servers for their favorite Israel-loving kike shill, Donald Trump. The spike in hate crimes eventually made the lamestream (((media))) believe it was a platform for the alt-right and Trump supporters. Maybe they saw Richard Spencer's AMA on his alt-shite server as well. But thanks to the moola Discord was making from this increase in users, they took little action.
Thanks to their own mistakes, the stranglehold that the alt-right had on Discord didn't last forever. Numerous alt-right Discords, notably Daily Stormer's, coordinated a rally in Charlottesville on August 11, 2017 referred to as the "Unite the Right rally," or the "Summer of Hate" event by the Daily Butthole Stormer. Unsurprisingly, the demonstration turned ugly when nu-age middle-class Communists started inciting reactions from Neo-Nazis. This ultimately escalated to some dumbass driving a fat whale over.
As a result of the outcry, large corporations such as Google, GoDaddy, Discord, and several other irrelevant no-name services run by lefty oligarchs began the slow-boiling process of terminating service to the salt-right, mostly to appease the moral majority. In other words, making money by looking good. In spite of Discord successfully washing its hands of their involvement of platforming political extremism, the far right spastics continue to make even more servers on Discord. In fact, it was revealed that there was another attempt to hold another Charlottesville rally. If only they knew they were on an NSA watchlist and realized the van parked near their house advertising birthday parties looked just a little 'too suspect'.
How Does Discord Work?
Discord was born through a need to be a better alternative to a certain other VOIP client owned by Microsoft, although these days it's concentrated down into a super dumbed down and modernized IRC. Everything is kept simple to appeal to the guaranteed technical illiteracy the consumer has, and powerusers who try to use a better discord client than the stock one filled with bloatware are doomed to a life of breakage and misery.
These "amazing" features include:
- Voice chat and calls
- Face calls
- Group chats
- Empty Friend lists
- Emojis
- A ping system that, in good faith, should be useful, but is abused by people with unwarranted self-importance to spam other users about shit nobody cares about
- @everyone U R GEY LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
- Cross-site account connection to apps such as Facebook and Xbox, so they can sell more of your personal data

It's important to remember that a lot of these features were requested by Discord users or, in the case of custom emoticons, were previously offered free of charge. Nice paywall! Now you're learning from EA!
Jew Scheming 2: Nitro Boogaloo
Discord's staff came to the conclusion that they could make more money if they added a new feature to Discord Nitro in late 2018, in addition to selling your data to China. If you're spending money on this IRC-for-zoomers client for whatever reason, you can now get access to "+$1,000 worth of games." Sounds a lot like an Game Pass, doesn't it? And now they've significantly increased their price (from $4.99 per month and $49.99 annually to $9.99 per month and $99.99 annually). Why don't you just buy the games instead of supporting Discord?
As a result of adding this gaming subscription bullshit, Discord revoked the right to sue them, alleging that class-action lawsuits could easily be abused. Now anyone who sues has to settle through arbitration (settling disputes/lawsuits/whatever outside of courts.)
Discord Servers and Users
Like any other social media platform, the festering shithole of Discord attracts the usual horde of autists who are never far from gaming-related websites. However, because of its mainstream status, it is also swamped with an excessive number of Ecelebs, furries, titty streamers, SJWs and normies. The resulting culture clash is an unprecedented level of faggotry that exceeds even Reddit and 4chan. Discord is swamped with these aforementioned degenerates who spawned their own servers to further their own megalomaniac faggotry. Even porno-drawing "artists" have their own Discord servers, and they often use paywalling sites such as Patreon to bestow exclusive server roles.
If you're an aspiring e-celeb and you don't have a Discord, you're already falling behind. But if you're not, then you're probably part of that elite crowd that owns a Discord "partner server", to help you avoid the narcissists and obsessive fans stationed in them. These partnered servers are closely watched and groomed by Discord, to make sure everyone plays nice and doesn't say any bad words.
Beyond partnered servers, Discord's popular-but-not-popular-enough servers are located and promoted on third-party sites that are dedicated to pimping these servers out. Here you will find servers based around anime, LGBT rights, politics, roleplaying, and other such excessively useless drivel. The toxicity in non-partnered servers is arguably worse as the cult of personality centered around paranoid mod worship and being a stubborn, hateful prick far outweighs the potential to have anything close to an insightful and illuminating conversation. More often than not, servers have home-brewed, tin-can junker bots, made out of sloppily written spaghetti code.
The darkest recesses of Discord are home to many near-illegal or indisputably immoral servers. Doxxing and harassment, brigading-oriented servers, zoophilia-promoting, jailbait, stolen identities, credit card info, data trafficking - you name it, it likely exists, just underground. Servers such as these were focus for several investigations by the FBI, and even though these get almost immediately shut down once they're discovered, they usually pop back up again. It's also not uncommon to have your server pwned by a gorillion raid bots which spam images from Offended.
Depending on your expertise on tiptoeing around Discord's system, it can be one of the easiest and most effective platforms to terrorize, or one of the least effective. Servers have various methods to protect users but comes at the expense of user convenience, which makes server settings a frequently overlooked option. Instead, most server owners will install shitty amateur mods, usually "trusted" friends, to enforce some twenty-odd arbitrarily written rules. They'll sissy out the moment they see gore or a bot raid though - so much for being trusted.
Allthefoxes
Among Discord's global moderator, or Trust and Safety team, is one allthefoxes (Powerword: Sam Antonovich✡). This furfag has a history of moderating Reddit communities such as r/gaming and r/pics, acting like a circlejerking E-whore while doing so, until he was later banned. He is also known for constantly abusing power, banning people for biased reasons, acting severely unprofessional on e-mail responses, and showing preferential treatment towards keeping cub porn on said platform, which actively purges underage pornographic material.
On January 1st, 2019, a YouTuber by the name of QuackityHQ was kicked out of his Discord call with his friends and fellow YouTubers. After attempting to log back in, he was met with a ban message, and opened a ticket for his appeal shortly thereafter. A Discord staff member reviewed the appeal for all of 5 minutes and then rejected it. Once the account got deleted, Quackity opened up with a video explaining the situation, stating that it was due to a video he had made on Awful Furry Discord Servers. From how it was described, allthefoxes was the one who rigged the ban and appeal process, thus creating the #DiscordUnbanQuackity Twitter movement in order to get Discord to fire allthefoxes. However, the damage may already have been done, as there is evidence to suggest that furfaggotry may have already infected others in the Trust and Safety team. QuackityHQ has since received a message from the Trust and Safety director, and has made a follow-up video, but is still banned.
Clans
Discord clans are autistic congregations of Discord's most diehard users: 13 year old boys who are typically edgy trolls seeking acceptance online, skids who just figured out how to edit some strings in a python discord rapebot and claim it as their own, or teenagers that just found out about politics. Unlike other groups on discord which are usually based somewhere else, clans are almost exclusively active on discord. They can be found anywhere, if you've ever been in a large discord sewer you've definitely seen some faggot with a username that has gibberish in a fancy font and brackets, that's probably a clan member or a tranny (same thing anyways). There are no notable discord clans since they're all shit nobody cares about and Discord's moderation team nukes them right after they form because the members are retarded enough to publicly share their skidded raidbots. Despite all of them sharing the same generic traits, clans get into internet sissy fights all the time (of course they call them war because discord drama is serious business). It's extremely easy to troll a clan and become their #1 boogeyman by reportfagging their gore stash, pointing out that they're all larping as hackers/trolls/countries, or pointing out that they're a carbon copy of whatever clan they're fighting with.
The ED Discord Server
Yeah that's right. We were just bitching about it, and now we're talking about our official server. It's It was a bit more active than the ED forums and our IRC, but it was basically the closest thing to 4chan that you will ever get on there.
The server itself was full of everything listed above, but with gay moderators and smart people trying to be edgy. As of now we don't have a teamspeak server, but you are inclined to make your own fan teamspeak server that everyone will join.
Before it was permanently closed on February 5, 2023, the server had a history of being b& by Discord for triggering their SJW furfag staff. Any "ED Discord" you come across from now on is fake or unofficial.
The Demographics of Discord
Discord is a very diverse platform full of many unique and intelligent people. Because anyone can create a server with a specific target audience, many contrasting people from multiple differing communities with multiple interests congregate on this cum-dumpster of a platform. The following is a list of what individuals compromise the community that is Discord:
- Furries and degenerates (including the admins): 30%

- LGBTTQQIAAP commie-niggers circlejerking each other as to how oppressed they are and slowly dying while contracting miscellaneous STDs: 15%
