Use Special:Upload to upload pictures. Be sure to give them meaningful names. Also, do not upload any CP or Bestiality pr0n or you will be b&.
Active editors and sysops can be found on ED IRC. This is the place to go for advice, collaboration, and brownie points.

Deathnotice
Don't put death notices on new articles, give them time to actually improve. A good rule of thumb is one month, that way other users have time to go in and make improvements. Consider instead labeling crappy new articles with {{stub}} or {{crapstub}} so they can be sorted into the areas of the site where people look for articles to improve. Is it allowed to post pics with the names of anyone who's not important or lulzworthy blurred out here?
And what does "Destination filename" and the matching "Summary" mean?

1. Yeah, you can.
2. "Destination Filename" is what you name the file yourself, most often with a container after it(.jpg, .png, etc.), check a few other images to see some examples of what they SHOULD be named.
